Certified Cyber Insurance Specialist (CCIS) alum, Andrew Casell’s journey into cyber risk leadership was not a planned one, but it’s become a defining part of his career. Starting over 11 years ago at Verlingue in High-Net-Worth Insurance, he quickly transitioned into a corporate lines role. A keen interest in risk management opened the door to his current path. Today, as a Customer Success Manager within Verlingue’s risk management team, Andrew focuses on guiding clients through cyber risk assessments and working closely with brokers to facilitate the placement of tailored insurance solutions.
Learning to Lead Clients Through Cyber Risk
For Andrew, continuing education has always been a priority throughout his journey into cyber insurance, and earning the Certified Cyber Insurance Specialist (CCIS) designation is a natural extension of that commitment. “In a field like cyber risk, which is ever evolving, continued education equips me to deliver meaningful advice and stay ahead of industry demands,” he says. The CCIS has helped him sharpen his technical skills and deepen his understanding of cyber exposures, enabling him to better support clients in assessing risks and aligning them with the right insurance solutions.
Converting Cyber Knowledge into Client Confidence
Andrew recognized that deepening his understanding of IT security was essential to better serve clients in cyber risk management. The CCIS designation provided exactly that, equipping him with a solid grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals, computer networks, and cyber defense strategies. “Even after completing the course only recently, I have already been able to display and utilise these skills in my capacity as a cyber insurance professional,” Andrew shares. The course has empowered him to confidently engage in high-level discussions with IT and cyber professionals, adding significant value to the way he manages cyber insurance expectations and solutions.
By applying his new knowledge of IT infrastructure, security controls, access management, and sector-specific vulnerabilities, Andrew ensures that clients receive tailored, effective coverage.
