Q: How did you get into the Cyber Insurance Industry?
A: Handling so many insurance claims on a daily basis has placed me in a good position to track industry trends and developments. One such trend that I noticed was a substantial increase in the number of cyber claims being reported. To handle these claims more confidently, accurately, and thoroughly, I decided to pursue professional training and education in cyber insurance and this led me to the Cyber Insurance Academy.
Q: What brought you to the Certified Cyber Insurance Professional (CCIS) course?
A: I wanted to increase my knowledge and understanding of cyber insurance and was considering whether I would want to make the shift into working in cyber insurance full time.
Q: How did taking the CCIS course benefit you in your professional career?
A: This course is wonderfully structured. It starts from the basics of IT and moves to the more complex aspects of cyber insurance, including claim calculations and loss scenarios. I, therefore, feel that there is a very clear, long-term benefit for claims professionals wanting to investigate a career in cyber insurance.
Q: Would you recommend the CCIS course to your peers and colleagues?
A: This course is highly recommended to anyone who wishes to make and pursue his career in cyber insurance.
Q: What doors have been opened for you as a result of completing the CCIS course?
A: This course has given me a thorough understanding of cyber insurance. With a bit more practical experience, I also feel that I could pursue a career in any of Cyber broking, underwriting or claims.
Q: Now that you are a certified cyber insurance professional, where do you see the Cyber Insurance Market in the next three years?
A: Given the rise in the number of worldwide cyber-attacks, and the increased awareness of cyber insurance as a remedial product for these amongst business owners, demand for cyber insurance will continue to grow. Cyber insurance premiums are expected to increase 20% to 30% per year on average in the near future – this reflects the rising demand for the product.
